Location Convent Gallery
From Saturday 01 June 2019 -  10:00am
To Tuesday 09 July 2019 - 04:00pm

For the last twenty years, the defining characteristic of Vicki Ames’ work has been a sustained commitment to innovation in fine art textiles and specifically shibori and embroidery combined.

For Urban Fabrick, Vicki’s particular concerns are the imperfections and deterioration of surfaces in architecture, in relation to the use and meaning of the local historic buildings, which are visited by thousands of tourists each year in WA. Working from drawings and photographs, Vicki uses hand stitches to achieve marks and texture worked onto a printed/dyed fabric. The aim is to achieve a balance between innovation and tradition.
